Dr. Ling Shuai got PhD degree of Biochemistry in 2013 from Northeast Agricultural University, Harbin, China. He came to Institute of zoology, Chinese Academy of science and supervised by Prof. Qi Zhou to begin his research career in 2009. He worked as a post-doctor furtherly in 2013-2015 supervised by Prof. Qi Zhou. In the research period of Institute of zoology, Chinese Academy of science, he focused on developing mammalian haploid stem cells and utilizing them to perform forward and reverse genetic screening on cellular and animal levels. He had published his achievements in Nature, J Mol Cell Biol and other famous journals around the world as chief contributor. He joined the faculty of Nankai University, Tianjin. He is currently a principal investigator of the State Key Laboratory of Medicinal Chemical Biology at Nankai University.

Group of Dr. Ling Shuai have two main research directions now. One is using haploid cells and various genomic editing techniques to screen key target genes of definite biological processes (such as differentiation and reprogramming) and preclinical drug selection. The other one is clarifying the mechanism underlying X chromosome inactivation in differentiation of females by haploid tool cells.
